HIGH-IMPACT PAPERS
High-Impact Papers is a database of the most influential papers in specific fields of the sciences and social sciences, 1981 through the current year, as reflected by citation counts tabulated from 1981 through the current year. Each database contains the complete bibliographic information on the 200 most-cited papers of each year a total of 4,400 papers including all author names, all author addresses; journal name; title of paper; volume; initial page number; year of publication) plus year-by-year and total citation counts for each paper. This database comes with a graphical user interface that allows users to search the set and create rankings of authors, institutions, journals, nations, etc. 

FEATURES

The High-Impact Papers databases are based on the Thomson Scientific-defined fields. Custom databases can be ordered based on other criteria such as title words or selected journal titles. Data for each paper include: author names, regardless of order of position; addresses with separate data elements for institutional name, department, section, lab, city, state, province, country; article title; journal title, including volume, beginning page number, year; document type; category; and of course, annual and total citation counts.

These and many other questions can now be answered easily with the High-Impact Papers database:

  • Are your papers listed?
  • How many has your institution fielded each year?
  • Has the nation's share of most cited papers changed much during the period?
  • What about your colleagues' papers?
  • Who published the largest number of high impact papers?

With this type of database detailed bibliographic and citation data on every paper the data can be searched, grouped, summarized, and ranked using any data elements, such as author names (all author names), institution, discipline, year, citation count, collaborating institutions or nations, etc. These data, in this database structure, allow virtually any type of analysis of output of papers and influence in terms of citations or citations per paper.

FORMATS AND DELIVERY OPTIONS

The data are delivered on CD in MS Access format with a custom Windows-based, or Web interface.
