"MEGA2: molecular evolutionary
genetics analysis software," by
Sudhir Kumar, Koichiro Tamura, Ingrid B.
Jakobsen, and Masatoshi Nei, Bioinformatics, 17(12): 1244-5, December
2001.
Abstract: "We have developed a
new software package, Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis version 2
(MEGA2), for exploring and analyzing aligned DNA or protein sequences from an
evolutionary perspective. MEGA2 vastly extends the capabilities of MEGA
version 1 by: (1) facilitating analyses of large datasets; (2) enabling
creation and analyses of groups of sequences; (3) enabling specification of
domains and genes; (4) expanding the repertoire of statistical methods for
molecular evolutionary studies; and (5) adding new modules for visual
representation of input data and output results on the Microsoft Windows
platform."
This 2001 report from Bioinformatics was
cited 99 times in current journal articles indexed by Thomson
ISI
during September-October 2003. No other biology paper published in the last
two years, aside from reviews,
received a greater number of citations during that two-month period. Prior to
the most recent bimonthly count,
citations to the paper have accrued as follows:
July-August 2003: 60 citations
May-June 2003: 64
March-April 2003: 59
January-February 2003: 42
November-December 2002: 35
September-October 2002: 30
July-August 2002: 14
May-June 2002: 3
Total citations to date: 406
