Did you expect the Journal of Small Business Management to
become highly cited, or is this surprising to you?
It’s not surprising. Our current acceptance rate is less than
10%. We have focused on high-impact empirical research.
How would you account for the increased citation rate of the Journal
of Small Business Management? Was there a change in policy or
editorial direction that might account for this?

high-impact empirical research papers, and we have an outstanding
editorial team.
What historical factors have contributed to the success of the Journal
of Small Business Management?
It’s the oldest and most widely distributed journal in its area.
Have there been specific developments in the fields served by the Journal
of Small Business Management that may have contributed?
Ours is a multidisciplinary journal. We have expanded the list of
research topics. And we have tied the journal to the Office Depot
Forum.
What, in your view, is this journal’s main significance or
contribution in the field of Economics & Business?
Cutting-edge research in entrepreneurship and small business.
How do you see your field(s) evolving in the next few years?
Strong growth in research in the area.
What role do you see for your journal?
We will continue to lead the research and bring the scholars
