In
an analysis for in-cites published in June 2003, the Aaron
Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC) entered into the top 1%
of institutions in the field of Microbiology (see New
Entrants). According to the
ISI
Essential Science Indicators
Web
product, the ADARC has 45 papers cited a total of 3,174 times
to date in this field, as well as 20 papers cited a total of
3,292 times to date in the field of Clinical Medicine.
The ADARC is the product of a collaboration in the late
1980s between the Aaron Diamond Foundation and the New York
City Department of Health, later joined by the Public Health
Research Institute and the New York University School of
Medicine. Dr. David D. Ho was recruited to head up the
project, and the Center officially opened its doors in 1991.
In 1996, the same year Dr. Ho was named Time magazine’s
Man of the Year, the Center became affiliated with The
Rockefeller University, which remains an important foundation
of support for the Center today.
The Center has had a hand in many of the milestones made in
AIDS research, including developing combination drug regimens,
work on the replication rate of the HIV molecule, and
investigating the potential for resistance to HIV in
individuals.
Below are the top 3 papers published by the
Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center in the fields of
Microbiology and Clinical Medicine sorted by citations.
