 Information about... Scientist Rankings

Citation counts are a form of peer recognition and generally reflect the dependence of the scientific community on the work of individual scientists. It could be argued that highly cited scientists form the essential core of scientific community. Many highly cited scientists have also received peer recognition in the form of honorific awards.

Scientist Rankings lists either:

  • the ranked scientists in an individual field (or all fields)
    or
  • the ranked fields for an individual scientist.

Use a drop-down list to open a list of sort options (Citations, Papers, Citations per Paper, Scientist or Field). The default sort is by Citations. Click the Papers Paper icon or Graphs Graph icon Icons to access pages for the selected scientist or field.
